Points of procedure for esophageal atresia
1. Preoperative bronchoscopy
2. Muscle sparing thoracotomy.
3. Extrapleural approch
4. V.azygos preservation.
5. No distal esophageal mobilization.
6. Maximal proximal esophageal mobilization.
7. Fistula closure close to trachea for prevention of diverticullar stump of fistula.
8. Trananastomotic NGT for GER prevention
9. No drain if no severe tension.
Postoperatively -
1. Flexion of the head
2. Early feeding if possible
3. Prolonged relaxation and mechanical ventilation only for anastomosis with severe tension
4. Contrast study at day 7
