    Correct answer
d- taking an abdominal X-ray film

An abdominal X-ray assesses whether the patient’s rectum and colon is being emptied appropriately by the enema. If the X-ray shows moderate stool burden, especially in the rectum, then the volume/potency of the enema will need to be increased. If the X-ray shows an empty colon, but the patient has been soiling, then the enema is likely too potent, and needs to be reduced.

assessment of the colon is a difficult task.
if the patient is comfortable, I think that is enough. X ray is a radiation exposure, the rectal exam is a painfull procedure and is not indicative.
