    correct

Klippel-Trenaunany syndrome is a rare cause of hemihypertrophy in the newborn. The classic clinical triad includes varicosities and venous malformations of one or more limbs, port wine stains and soft tissue and bone hypertrophy. Though the general approach to treatment is conservative with compression, there are complications of the disease such as pain, bleeding, thrombophlebitis and cellulitis which occasionally require surgical intervention. Port wine stains can be treated by laser. Techniques for ablation of superficial veins and malformations should be individualized and may include sclerotherapy with alcohol or foam, endovenous thermal ablation or surgical stripping and phlebectomy. A multidisciplinary team is required for optimal care.
