    Question fecal ileal obstruction in preschool age

    Hello, anyone has experience with fecal ileal obstruction in preschool age? what could be the cause and management?

    Rule out mechanical vs. functional obstruction. Suspect in ileal stenosis, cystic fibrosis with thick stools, hypothyroidism, etc. Do intestinal transit with water-soluble medium.

      This is Gohary's phenomenon. Pleade Google it. It requires gastrgrafin enema. Usually it does not recure after enema. Sometimes it needs more than one enema. The first time I came across one was 35 years ago and have to operate but having realising it is type of fecal impaction I stated using Fleet enema and in resistant cases gastrografin enema and published our findings as Gohary's phenomenon.
